They have an interest in the promotion of lifelong wellness and fitness, as well as in prevention, diagnosis and management of illness and injury related or affecting sport and physical activity.

A referral from a general practitioner or nurse practitioner is required to access care from our sports medicine physicians.

The medical expertise of SEM physicians includes:
-Diagnosing and managing acute, degenerative, and overuse joint and muscular problems
-Prescribing exercise and physical activity for maintaining good health and to prevent and treat chronic medical conditions like high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, osteoarthritis and depression
-Treating exercise related medical problems such as concussion and asthma
-Providing care for people of all ages in recreational, amateur, elite, and professional sports including pre-participation medical assessments, sporting event medical coverage, anti-doping, environmental issues, mental health, and treating athletes with disabilities
-Prevention of injury and medical illness related to physical activity and sport

Before he pursued his Master’s of Physiotherapy at McMaster University, he obtained his Honors Degree in Biopsychology from the University Victoria in 2016. Mike has worked in the health and wellness field for the past 20 years. Over this time, he has recognized the importance of developing a strong therapeutic alliance with his patients to enable them to achieve their best possible result. Mike uses an evidence-based approach to treatment that includes the use of therapeutic exercise, manual therapy and education to assist patients with their goals.

Mike initially completed a Diploma in the Fitness & Lifestyle Management program at George Brown College in 1999. He followed this, completing his Bachelors of Science degree at Trent University in 2001. He spent 5 years working both as a trainer, as well as a rehab therapist for individuals with acquired brain injury. In 2006, Mike completed his Masters of Physical Therapy at D’Youville College, in Buffalo, NY. Mike has worked in Peterborough for the past 13 years in an orthopedic setting. In 2013, he completed his Advanced Diploma of Manual Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT).

Throughout his career, Mike has remained committed to continuing education. He has completed course work in a number of areas including Acupuncture and Dry Needling, Management of Acute Concussion & Management of Post-Concussion Syndrome (R2P Concussion Management), New Trends in the Prevention of Running Injuries (The Running Clinic), and Lynn Watson’s “the shoulder course”. With extensive experience working with athletes at all levels—from recreational to elite—Michael remains committed to continuous professional development. He holds a Master of Clinical Science in Manipulative Therapy from Western University and is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT). John Hauser is a Registered Massage Therapist with a background in Biomedical Science (BScH, University of Guelph, 2008) and an Advanced Diploma in Massage Therapy from Fleming College (2024). He specializes in deep tissue massage, particularly for athletes, and incorporates Swedish, trigger point, and movement-based techniques, along with joint mobilization.

John is committed to evidence-based care and has additional training in trauma-informed therapy to ensure a client-centered, supportive approach. Currently, he’s pursuing continuing education in acupuncture, which he plans to offer by the end of summer 2025.

Cora is a dietitian who enjoys nothing more than supporting clients to achieve their individual goals. She creates a judgment-free, safe space to explore how food can support health and wellbeing at every life stage. She also has an interest in how nutrition can support athletes and their unique goals. Cora graduated with her BSc in Food and Nutrition with an Honours Specialization in Nutrition and Dietetics in 2018 from Brescia University College, London, ON. She then went on to complete her Master in Public Health: Food and Nutrition from Memorial University, St. John’s, NL in 2020. She then worked as a diabetes education dietitian and a public health dietitian in Timmins, ON, before moving back to a farm near her hometown of Cobourg in the fall of 2023.
